PRESS RELEASE

The call of the XVth edition of the European Prize of Architecture Philippe Rotthier 2027 will be open from September 2026. Conditions will largely correspond to those of the 2024 award.

The prize rewards architectural projects, urban and rural developments completed in the last five years that promote architecture in harmony with nature, valuing local identity, history and craftsmanship through the judicious use of natural materials and durable construction techniques.

The prize is open to builders of all kinds, architects, craftsmen and town planners.

An amount of
50,000 euros

possibly split between several entries,
is being made available to the jury
by the prize founder, Philippe Rotthier.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The jury under the presidency of Maurice Culot will be particularly attentive to projects that:

01	Are realized over the last five years. They support the innovation of functions and the multiplicity of forms over a few standard solutions applied uniformly everywhere.
02	They are located in urban centers or rural neighborhoods.They seek to integrate rural and urban contexts by considering local construction practices.
03	Make maximum possible use of natural and durable materials, traditional and ecological methods.
04	Make the best use of the materials, techniques and skills that have been produced, practiced and developed locally.
05	Enhance surrounding public spaces by making them recognisable (streets, paths, avenues and squares). They provide them with character.
06	Support a mix of activities by means of integrated uses and fonctionnalites.
07	Provide optimal building circulation and favour qualitative paths within the building.
08	Improve the economic and ecological value of their site.
